What is Short-Term Disability Insurance?
A type of coverage that replaces a portion of your income if injury or illness prevents you from working for a short period of time. It provides financial security for you and any loved ones who may depend on your ability to earn a paycheck. You may also hear disability insurance referred to as disability income insurance or income protection.
What is Long-Term Disability Insurance?
A type of coverage that replaces a portion of your income if injury or illness prevents you from working for a long period of time, up to Social Security Normal Retirement Age. It provides financial security for you and any loved ones who may depend on your ability to earn a paycheck. You may also hear disability insurance referred to as disability income insurance or income protection.

Eligibility: Eligible full-time employees as designated by the board

Coverage through Mutual of Omaha

Employee must be actively at work on the effective date

Disability insurance will be offset by any outside income received (sick leave, Parental Leave, etc.)

Short-Term Disability: Annual enrollment, no health questions every year

Long-Term Disability: Employer paid benefit, all employees are automatically enrolled
