What is Short-Term Disability Insurance?
A type of coverage that replaces a portion of your income if injury or illness prevents you from working for a short period of time. It provides financial security for you and any loved ones who may depend on your ability to earn a paycheck. You may also hear disability insurance referred to as disability income insurance or income protection.
What is Long-Term Disability Insurance?
A type of coverage that replaces a portion of your income if injury or illness prevents you from working for a long period of time, up to Social Security Normal Retirement Age. It provides financial security for you and any loved ones who may depend on your ability to earn a paycheck. You may also hear disability insurance referred to as disability income insurance or income protection.
Plan rules:

Eligibility: Eligible full-time employees as designated by the board

Coverage through OneAmerica (Employee must be actively at work on the effective date.)

Short-Term Disability: Annual enrollment, no health questions every year. Does not offset for sick leave, will offset for Paid Parental Leave, workers compensation, or any other outside income.

Long-Term Disability: Employer paid benefit, all employees are automatically enrolled. Benefit is offset by any outside income (Social Security, sick leave, retirement, etc.)
